FAQ’s for Boiler/Central Heating System Installs
What do I need to do in preparation of the survey/quotation?There will be virtually no disruption to your home during this visit, as all we will do is inspect and measure. We will confirm where the new boiler is to be fitted, the route of any visible pipes and where any new controls and radiators will be sited to make sure you are happy with the positions.
Do I need to tell the Heating Advisor anything? We will need to know if there are any existing faults on your current heating system so that these can be rectified and also if you have any preferences regarding the make and model of the new boiler.
What do I need to do in preparation for the installation? You will need to be available to let the engineers in on the day of the installation and to discuss the details. Plus you will need to be around for the last hour of the installation to sign any paperwork and so that the controls can be explained to you.
How long will it take to install? This will depend on what kind of system you are having installed and whether it is a straight boiler swap or a complete central heating install. However, we will give you our best estimate before we start.
Will I have heating and hot water?
If the installation is going to take more than a day, you may be without heat and hot water overnight. The Installers will aim to minimise this period, but it may be worth making some provisions.
Please ensure that access is available to the gas and electric meters and the main water stop tap. Also please remove clothes and any other items from airing cupboards and if possible, any items stored in the roof space from the area surrounding water tanks.
Will there be any disruption to my home?Your Heating Installer will treat your property with respect and aim to keep any disruption to a minimum. They will cover carpets, protect work surfaces and use dustsheets in all areas where they work. Please try and remove any expensive ornaments or furniture that are close to the boiler work area and near any radiators to be replaced. If we are removing Fires and/or Back boiler units there may be debris from the chimney but our engineers will cover the area in dustsheets prior to removal and hover up any access debris after.
Will the Installer explain how to use the new system?Upon completion our engineers will explain how to use your new system and give you a detailed demonstration of how to set up any new controls or devices. They will answer any questions you may have and tell you what to expect from your new system that may be different to your old system.
When do I pay my account?Full and final payment should be given to our engineer on completion of the installation, unless you have decided on taking our 12 Month finance option in which case payment details will have been dealt with separately.
